La ponte, una iniciativa local, gana el premio internacional Best Soft Power Cultural District Award

La noche del 30 de septiembre se dieron a conocer los ganadores de los Leading Culture Destination Awards, «los Oscars de los Museos», unos de los premios más importantes de la Museología a nivel internacional. A la ceremonia, que tuvo lugar en el lujoso Hotel Langham de Londres, acudieron representantes de las Industrias Culturales, profesionales de la museología, directores de museos, artistas como Jake Chapman, Polly Morgan y Mat Collishaw, la modelo y nutricionista Rosemary Ferguson, el Teniente de Alcalde de Quebec, el fotógrafo de Fauna Salvaje David Yarrow, y el director del Tourism at World Economic Forum, Geoffrey Lipman, entre otros.

Estos premios reconocen cada año el trabajo que se desarrolla en los museos y la importancia que tienen para la sociedad. El objetivo es reconocer públicamente el esfuerzo de estas instituciones dedicadas a la educación, a la conservación y como destinos para visitantes a nivel global, y por tratar de convertirse, además, en centros capaces de impulsar la evolución y la transformación social.

La selección de los nominados es un trabajo que se realiza durante todo el año, elaborando una lista de las instituciones museológicas que cumplen con la filosofía y la misión de los premios. Expertos y profesionales de la cultura y los museos son los que construyen las lista de nominados. Las recomendaciones de estos expertos, el asesoramiento de Lord Cultural Resources y el criterio de un jurado selecto son los que dictaminan la lista final de tres instituciones por categoría.

Las categorías que cada año son premiadas son: exposición del año, arquitectura de museo del año, restaurante del museo del año, tienda del museo del año, aplicación o proyecto digital del año para museo, destino cultural del año y nuevo museo del año. Pero la edición de 2016 contiene una novedad. Una nueva categoría: Soft Power Destination Awards. Esta categoría reconoce a las organizaciones culturales y museológicas su influencia e impacto en la sociedad. Es aquí donde el trabajo de La Ponte-Ecomuséu ha sido nominado y premiado para estos galardones de museología.

El decisión del jurado para conceder a La Ponte este galardón internacional se fundamenta en poseer un proyecto de innovación social, sostenible y resiliente. La Ponte es un ecomuseo gestionado por población local donde se socializa el patrimonio cultural y se transmiten valores de respeto hacia las comunidades rurales y su cultura. Es, además, un espacio de encuentro, aprendizaje y dinamización, un laboratorio social y cultural donde se reflexiona sobre los problemas de nuestro entorno. Los expertos alabaron efusivamente durante la ceremonia cómo desde una iniciativa ciudadana, el trabajo científico y la participación comunitaria se puede conseguir un proyecto museológico sostenible para una comunidad y un territorio. Un ejemplo a seguir para grandes y pequeños museos.

Los premios Leading Culture Destination Awards, «los Oscars de los Museos», reconocen cada año el trabajo que se desarrolla en los museos y la importancia que estas instituciones tiene para la sociedad. El objetivo es reconocer públicamente el esfuerzo de estas instituciones dedicadas a la educación, a la conservación y como destinos para visitantes a nivel global, y por tratar de convertirse, además, en centros capaces de impulsar la evolución y la transformación social.

La selección de los nominados es un trabajo que se realiza durante todo el año, elaborando una lista de las instituciones museológicas que cumplen con la filosofía y la misión de los premios. Las recomendaciones de estos expertos, el asesoramiento de Lord Cultural Resources y el criterio de un jurado selecto son los que dictaminan la lista final de tres instituciones por categoría.

Pero la edición de 2016 contiene una novedad. Una nueva categoría: Soft Power Destination Awards. Esta categoría reconoce a las organizaciones culturales y museológicas su influencia e impacto en la sociedad. Es aquí donde el trabajo de La Ponte-Ecomuséu ha sido nominado para estos premios de museología. La nominación de La Ponte se fundamenta en poseer un proyecto de innovación social, sostenible y resiliente.

La resolución final de los ganadores de cada categoría se conocerá el próximo 30 de septiembre durante una gala que tendrá lugar en el hotel Langham de Londres, a las 19:00 horas. Gracias al apoyo de la organización de los premios La Ponte-Ecomuséu podrá estar presente en la gala para conocer el veredicto final.

The Politecnico di Milano, Athenaeum dedicated to the education of architects and designers who operate in the field of the built environment, participates in the 24th General conference of ICOM, MUSEUMS AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPES, by promoting the initiative POLIMIforICOM, thus contributing to the ongoing debate concerning the enhancement of the cultural heritage, the museum, its architecture, exhibition settings and interior spaces, as well as the relationship among museum practices, community museums, ecomuseums, local development and cultural landscapes.

POLIMIforICOM includes two conferences.

The conference THE ITALIAN MUSEUM BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION aims at reflecting on the renewed social role of the museum, and on the evolution of the cultural perspective ensuing from the reconsideration of aspects of material culture in the preservation issues, and from the commitment to the transformation of museums, their organization and architecture in contemporaneity.

The strategic role of this topic within the tasks of Politecnico di Milano is illustrated by two exhibitions: PROGETTARE MUSEI/DESIGNING MUSEUMS, which explores the design activities in the museum field, ranging from architecture to museography, from display setting to museotechnics, and to the relationship between museum and territory, and FREDI DRUGMAN: IL PROGETTO AL MUSEO dedicated to the figure of Fredi Drugman, a professor and designer who, since the ’70, has tirelessly promoted the museum as a place for culture and science, for social and political debate, for encounters and civic life.

The conference MUSEUMS AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPES. The ecomuseums and community museums perspectives intends to present critical reflections, projects and best practices related to the enhancement of natural and cultural landscape and heritage, serving as lever for the active participation of local communities, raising awareness, shaping and promoting the sustainable development of the territories.
By providing a significant opportunity for an international and interdisciplinary debate, the conference is meant to foster new considerations on the role of community engagement and the promotion of cultural heritage as strategical levers for local development. These questions draw on the social tasks of the project related to the request of regeneration and enhancement for the environmental quality and use of territorial, urban and built systems. Ecomuseums and community museums operate in this framework, activating participative processes and facilitating the recognition, management and promotion of cultural landscapes with the aim to foster a sustainable social, environmental and economic development, harmoniously evolving along with the values and needs of the community.
The presentations at the conference and its poster session demonstrate the relevance of such issue with a variety of experiences from all over the world.

Local Artisanal Cheeses in Turkey and the World: The Use of Geographical Indication for “Kars Kaşarı” Cheese

Cheesemaking is not only a craftsmanship that preserves and renders milk safe to consume for longer periods of time. Thanks to this craft, microbiological forms of life have been produced in many different regions of the world through unique cultural techniques under different geographical and climatic conditions.

There are many aspects of cheesemaking to consider: from ecological cycles to microbial diversity, lives of cows to the lives of bacteria, industrial techniques to traditional practices, political maps to cultural frontiers property relations to natural resource and communal management, nutritional values to food identities, pastures to dairies, supermarkets to local markets and solidarity tourism. In general, this symposium aims to explore the increasing complexity of food and supply chains in cheesemaking sectors. More specifically, the goal of the symposium is to initiate a discussion on how local artisanal cheeses differ from industrial cheeses and what sort of possibilities and limits geographical indications offer for the reproduction of artisanal cheeses, local taste, traditional know-how, and rural communities.

You are invited to submit an abstract on the topics related to, but not limited to:

•   Cheesemaking as craft: past and present

•   Changing definitions of ‘local’ and ‘traditional’ in cheesemaking

•   Relations of cheesemaking to other agriculture and animal husbandry practices

•   Cheesemaking as cultural heritage

•   Trends in consumption patterns of cheese, milk, and meat

•   Importance of pastures in traditional cheese production

•   Mainstream supply chains and emerging alternative networks linking producers to consumers

•   Geographical indication and their importance in cheesemaking

•   Production of scientific evidence for territorial distinctiveness (translating terroir)

The symposium will bring together researchers and interested sectors to better understand the use of geographical indication for Kars Cheese and other world cheeses in building farmer organizations and solidarity between local cheese producers and communities.

You have been already invited by Italian ecomuseums to an International Forum, to be held in Milan, on July 6-8 2016, during the ICOM General Conference.

Then you have been invited to a Call for Papers to be presented at the plenary session of the Forum on July 7, at the Politecnico di Milano. The abstracts are being received until April 15 and will be reviewed by a Jury of experts. .

Now begins the third phase of the project of Italian ecomuseums : nine ecomuseums have already expressed their wish to invite you to visit them "at home", during the days before and after the ICOM Conference. More could join them soon. Among them two guided regional tours offer to present the diversity of heritage and ecomuseums of their respective regions.
